Databricks Lakehouse Federation connects a Databricks workspace to a SQL Server database through a Unity Catalog connection and a foreign catalog, so users query SQL Server tables from Databricks under Unity Catalog permissions without copying them first. Databricks reads from SQL Server; nothing is written back.
