Microsoft Azure
About
Microsoft Azure is Microsoft's public cloud: compute, storage, database, analytics and AI services bought and run inside an Azure subscription. AEC firms and their software vendors use it mainly as data infrastructure, landing project files and data in Azure Blob Storage and loading them into Azure SQL Database for reporting. Those services have their own records in this catalog and are filed as extensions of this one.
How teams use it
By audience
- IT & Systems Administration
- IT teams create the Azure subscriptions, resource groups, billing and role assignments that the firm's Azure Blob Storage accounts and Azure SQL Database servers run under.
- Admins issue the storage credentials and database logins that construction data tools such as Procore Analytics and Kroo use to write project data into the firm's own Azure storage or database.
- Every Azure subscription signs in through the firm's Microsoft Entra ID tenant, the same directory behind its Microsoft 365.
