Azure Blob Storage
About
Azure Blob Storage is Microsoft Azure's object storage for unstructured data, kept in containers inside a storage account. Multiple access tiers and automated lifecycle management move data as access changes, from low-latency premium storage down to archive, and immutable write-once storage holds records for retention. Its Data Lake Storage capability adds a hierarchical namespace, so the same account serves as a data lake that analytics and AI services query in place. AEC firms and their software vendors use it as the storage behind their own platforms, data pipelines, model and point-cloud archives and long-term project records.

- IT teams create storage accounts and containers, assign Entra ID roles, and set encryption, lifecycle and immutability policies for project archives and backups.
